Wambugu apples
Self-production also involves the choice of the Wambugu apples, which is a naturally grafted organic apple and can be grown anywhere. This variety is already making it possible to obtain very abundant harvests in areas of central Africa where cultivation had always been problematic due to the terrestrial, water and atmospheric conditions.
Ordinary apple trees usually ripen within 3 years of sowing, while the Wambugu variety ripens and bears fruit between 9 and 14 months. A single tree can produce 1,000-2,000 fruits, and after two to three years of treatment with good agricultural and cultural practices it can yield even twice a year. It is very rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene and the B complex as well as minerals such as potassium, phosphorus and calcium.
